Meet the team:

Archer (They/Them) 

Archer is our Fibre Artist and Co-Owner. A queer trans non-binary and chronically ill artist with a passion for craft and community spaces. Archer creates the handmade crochet pieces, bringing slow craft and care into the shop. They are passionate about helping create safe and welcoming spaces for the queer community. Archer’s favourite genres to read are mystery thrillers. 

Billy (he/him)

Billy is our Book Curator and Co-Owner, a queer trans man and librarian with a passion for stories and accessible reading. Billy has dreamed of opening a bookshop for many years. He is also legally blind, meaning audiobooks are not just for enjoyment but are an important form of accessibility. His favourite genres include graphic novels and fantasy fiction. 

Bowen (they/them)

Bowen is our Creative Brand Manager, a queer non-binary artist who has a passion for art and community culture. Bowen is co-founder of YES Exhibition, an annual LGBTQ+ artist showcase on the anniversary of Australia voting yes to equal marriage rights. Bowen has also worked in the book industry for many years, their favourite genres to read are literary fiction and horror.

Kitty Cat Meows -Haku, Yuki & Katara 

Of course we couldn’t forget the most important team members! Let’s be honest these kitties are the heart and soul of Obsidian Bookshop. They’re always posing the haus down for our instagram and constantly ‘helping’ us with inventory (and yes, by helping we mean constantly causing chaos!)
